Clare Palmer, who owns Miss Pixie’s Pets, totted up 360,000 steps in a month while exercising dogs in her care and raised £735 for Hounds for Heroes.

The Petersfield-based charity trains and partners assistance dogs with injured, disabled or traumatised veterans of the armed services and civilian emergency services.

Alan Chambers, charity manager, said: “During these challenging times that have seen all charities suffer, we are especially grateful to Clare and Miss Pixie’s Pets for both choosing to support us and raise awareness while clocking up the steps with her lovely four-legged clients.

“The dogs make a huge difference to the veteran’s life. Every single pound that Hounds for Heroes receives makes a huge impact on their ability to train, partner and support life-enhancing dogs.

Hounds for Heroes buy and fund their dogs from puppy to retirement. All costs are met by the charity, including food, equipment, training, insurance and vets’ bills.”
