THE BBC cop drama Cuffs that was filmed around Shoreham, Worthing and Brighton will not be picked up for a second series.

Created by Prisoners’ Wives writer Julie Gearey, Cuffs follows the lives of several Sussex Police officers as they face day-to-day challenges on the frontline team.

Starring Amanda Abbington, Ashley Walters and Shaun Dooley, the show aired its last episode on Wednesday, December 16, but fans were disappointed to learn on social media that the show would not come back for a second series.

Although the final episode managed to enagage 3.15 million viewers, it was not enough to keep the show afloat.

On Twitter, Richard Griffiths called it a ‘misguided decision’ by the BBC.

The cast of the show have expressed their disappointment – Amanda Abbington tweeted, ‘End of an era. And we are all gutted. Thanks to a wonderful cast, crew and fans. No series two. Sad day.’

Worthing and Shoreham seafronts were featured in the eight episode drama, along with Worthing Town Hall as a court room and Shoreham’s Civic Centre as the police station.
