Have a look at the roles below and see more at www.do-it.org.

Receptionist/admin assistant – Arun Counselling Centre

Arun Counselling Centre (ACC) offers open-ended counselling (clients can be seen for up to three years) presenting with depression, anxiety states, phobias and/or bereavement issues.

The centre has 24 volunteer counsellors supervised in groups of four by experienced and qualified supervisors overseen by the clinical director/head of service.

It is looking for volunteers to manage incoming telephone calls and messages, record information, liaise with all ACC personnel, update information on the computer and take referrals from new clients.

You will need good communication skills and at least basic computer skills, and be able to adhere to client confidentiality.

Volunteer at a family fun day – Jamie’s Wish Trust

Jamie’s Wish operates solely by unpaid volunteers, including the two co-founders Tracey Terry and Jody Lee who manage the charity.

An annual family fun day is held in Littlehampton every July to raise crucial funds for the charity, and they are looking for volunteers to help at this event.

Roles available include: dressing up in a mascot costume and walking around greeting children and providing photo opportunities; manning a fundraising stall; distributing leaflets to businesses and residential homes; walking advertising on the day; and helping set up the venue.

Oral history volunteer – Arundel Museum Society

Arundel Museum exists to acquire, conserve and display objects related to Arundel’s history and heritage.

It wants to create a gateway to the past in an exciting and inspiring learning environment which is accessible to all.

Oral history volunteers are required to interview older people, recording memories of their lives, experiences and local events – this is done in the older person’s home.

The interview is then transcribed into a computer, themes are analysed and the final copy is produced.

Interviewers need to have a pleasant manner and be used to dealing with people, while transcribers need to be confident using a computer with good literacy and typing skills.

Shop assistant (Rustington and Littlehampton) – Link to Hope

Link to Hope is a Christian charity based in Worthing, established since 1991, which rebuilds lives and communities in Eastern Europe through social care and education projects.

It is looking for volunteers to work as part of a warm and welcoming team in its shops in Rustington and Littlehampton.

There are a number of roles within the shop, so whether you have budding creative skills for displaying and making up outfits, or have a passion for books, music or china, preparing and merchandising all types of stock as well as serving and talking to customers, it all goes towards their overall goals of raising funds.

The charity would love you to come and join the team and give them a hand.
