Workshop presenter – Enable Me Project
Enable Me works in the local area to raise disability awareness in the community and in the workplace, to help improve the lives of disabled people and to provide opportunities for disabled people to fulfil their potential.
Their services are delivered by a dedicated team of volunteers, both disabled and able-bodied, who work together to make a real difference.
They are looking for new volunteers to join them. Do you have some free time on your hands?
They need passionate, enthusiastic people with a willingness to learn to work as part of a small team in delivering disability awareness workshops in schools and workplaces.
If you have an inspirational story to tell and would feel comfortable working with children and presenting in a group setting then please get in touch.
Orchard and juicing plant volunteers – HFT Sussex
HFT is a national charity supporting people with learning disabilities and their families; everything they do focuses on helping the people they support live the life they choose.
They are looking for volunteers to help them produce and sell products made from apples and pears from their own orchard.
Tasks may include: the inspection, grading, sorting, storage, and post-harvest treatment of crops, as well as the preparation, sorting and pressing of fruits; and bottling up the finished product.
You must be able to work as part of a team and have skills in manual dexterity and/or good eye-hand coordination.
The hours for these roles vary, but are usually between the hours of 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Trustee – The West Sussex Mediation Service
The West Sussex Mediation Service mediates for neighbours or families in dispute, such as noisy or inconsiderate neighbours, boundary/hedge disputes, problems with parking, ball games, pets, rubbish and disagreements over shared driveways.
They are looking for people to work with a team of trustees who form part of the management committee.
They are responsible for the running of the organisation, a registered charity that has been in existence since 2000.
They are looking for trustees who are good networkers, good team players and who have skills and expertise in areas such as finance, business planning, funding/fundraising or human resources.
Drivers – Patient Link
Patient Link aims to provide a transport service for patients of the Willow Green Surgery in East Preston who find it difficult to attend appointments at the surgery, local hospitals, clinics and health centres.
More volunteer drivers are required to transport patients from home to medical appointments.
Volunteers are rarely called upon more than once per week and can claim a mileage allowance of up to 45p per mile plus any other direct expenses.
You must be over-18, have a clean driving license, and must be able to treat patients courteously and with dignity as many are elderly and need simple assistance.
