LOVE will not be the only thing in the air in Littlehampton on Valentine’s Day as wacky fundraisers take to the town’s High Street – to flip pancakes.

That’s right, Littlehampton’s ever-popular Pancake Olympics is set for its almighty return next month.

The event, staged by Littlehampton Town Council and supported by Sainsbury’s and Titan Self Storage, will take place on February 14, from 11am to 1pm.

The sporting extravaganza has previously seen more than 20 teams of wannabe ‘Olympians’ return each year to battle it out for the coveted gold frying pan and £100 for a charity of their choice.

This year’s action will have a Valentine’s theme to proceedings, with squads of four taking part in three tricky disciplines: Cupid curling, flirty flipping and a romantic relay.

Town councillor Malcolm Belchamber is now urging people to sign-up to the event.

He said: “As a previous judge, I have had the privilege of meeting past participants and witnessing their boundless energy and determination to raise funds for local causes.

“Hundreds of pounds are raised each year at this event, supporting vital services in Littlehampton. Everyone from young and old are welcome to take part so make sure you sign up and support a local charity.”

To take part in the race, fill in a form online {| here or by calling 01903 732063.

Closing date for teams is January 30.
