Staff at a Littlehampton care home will be serving up tasty inspiration for anyone looking to find out more about nutrition and healthy eating in later life on Thursday, April 28.
From 2.30pm until 4pm, hotel services manager at Care UK James Clear will lead a free event at Darlington Court sharing his knowledge and providing practical advice on healthy eating and hydration for older people. James will also give top tips for stimulating appetite and he will discuss examples of how menus can be adapted to suit special dietary needs – for people living with dementia, for example.
Visitors will be able to try a host of delicious sample dishes, freshly prepared by the care home’s head chef, Steve Dryer. These tempting sandwiches and desserts prepared and served especially for those with swallowing difficulties, as well as homemade fortified drinks and family favourites, such as fish pie, made with fresh herbs, lemon and cream.
After the event, James and Steve will be on hand to answer any questions and there will also be an opportunity for members of the public to meet the carers at Darlington Court.
The event, which is open to all, follows the launch of Care UK’s latest free guide, Eating as we Age. The home is in The Leas, off Station Road in Rustington, and provides a range of care services for older people. Don’t miss out on all the latest breaking news where you live.
