Worthing man jailed for secretly filming women and children using public toilets

Luke Murdoch, 26, has been given a nine-month jail sentence after being found guilty of three counts of voyeurism in Guildford, according to Surrey Police.

The first of the offences happened in May, 2019, when officers were called to the Spectrum Leisure Centre to reports of a man filming under the cubicles in the female toilets.

His victim, a teenage girl under 16, had seen a camera phone being placed under the stall and ran to tell her sister. They reported the incident to staff, who told police.

The second incident took place five months later in October, 2019, at a Burger King restaurant.

Police were called to the branch at Ladymead after a girl under the age of 12 was followed into the bathrooms and photographed on the toilet.

Again, staff were told and the police were called.

Murdoch was identified after a media appeal with CCTV footage was circulated online and through local media.

He was arrested on December 17, 2019, and was charged with voyeurism.

Forensic examination of his phone uncovered further voyeuristic images of adult women that appeared to have been taken in various public toilets, police said.

At Guildford Crown Court on Thursday (March 11), he was sentenced to nine months behind bars and given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order lasting 10 years.

Prevention orders are issued if someone is considered a risk to the wider public or a specific individual and prohibits the individual from doing specified things. Any breach is punishable by a sentence of up to five years.
