Four boys arrested after robbery

Four boys have been arrested following a robbery and attempted robbery, police have said.

A statement from Sussex Police said: “At about 5pm on Tuesday (27 September) three youths are reported to have confronted a lone 16-year old boy in Orme Road, Worthing, threatening him with what is described as a black handled kitchen knife before stealing tobacco from him.

“Shortly afterwards in nearby Tarring Road, the group also threatened a 17-year old girl and 19-year old boy at knifepoint and tried to search and steal from them but nothing was taken and nobody was hurt.

“Four boys have been arrested, a 16-year old, and three 15-year olds, on suspicion of robbery.

“The 16-year old was also arrested on suspicion of assault on police, possessing a knife, and obstructing the police.

“After being interviewed they were all bailed, the 16-year old to 15 October and the other three to 16 October.

“Anyone who saw what happened is asked to contact the police via [email protected] call 101, quoting serial 1079 of 27/09.
