Bognor Regis’s high street has made the final shortlist in a government competition to find Britain’s best high streets.
Bognor has made the final three of the coastal communities category, alongside Prestatyn in Wales and Amble in Northumberland.
There are 21 finalists across a number of categories in The Great British High Street competition who will all now battle it out for the public vote.
A spokesperson for the Department for Communities and Local Government said: “Bognor Regis’s entry was titled ‘Beautiful Bognor Regis: Overcoming perceptions and scepticism to regenerate a once thriving seaside town’.
“Bognor Regis has suffered from some negative marketing in recent years, however a new town centre partnership is working to fight back.
“The partnership successfully raised £650,000 from all three tiers of local government to fund significant physical improvements in the main shopping area.”
The winners in each category will get a share of £80,000 and expert training from Google’s training taskforce for 100 of their shops, bars and restaurants.
