Parents found out which primary school their child would attend today (Friday, April 16) – although the council pointed out that emailed offers should arrive before 5pm today, so parents and carers shouldn’t be alarmed if they haven’t received theirs yet.

West Sussex County Council’s Admissions Team managed 8,881 applications, with every child found a primary school place.

Ellie Evans, assistant director for education and skills and head of admissions, said: “Starting school is such an exciting time for every child and their family so I am delighted that such a high percentage of children have been provided a place at one of their preference schools.

“This year has of course been extremely difficult for all of our schools and families because of the pandemic, so I hope children and their parents and carers can now begin to prepare and look forward to September.”

The council’s admissions team also managed a total of 1,444 applications for children transferring from infant to junior school. Of those, 100 per cent will today be offered one of their three preferences, with 99.9 per cent offered their first preference school.

A small number of pupils were not offered a place at one of their preference schools. Parents, carers and students who wish to discuss their offer should contact admissions teams by calling 033 301 42903 or sending an email to: [email protected] or [email protected]
