GCSE Results 2020: The Angmering School praises pupils after ‘extraordinary’ year

In a rollercoaster six months, the coronavirus pandemic led to the cancellation of school and exams, before the Government scrapped a controversial algorithm designed to assign students grades.

Results have now been decided based on the predictions of teachers and the school said it was ‘really proud of every single student’ who completed their Key Stage 4 courses.

There were some exceptional results, with Heidi Redding achieving nine grade 9s and a grade 8, Olivia Curtis getting seven grade 9s and two grade 8s, Honor Calder-Cameron gaining seven grade 9s and one grade 8 and Cameron House managing six grade 9s and four grade 8s.

Special mention also goes to Joe Towler (six grade 9s and four grade 8s), Matthew Ward (six grade 9s and one grade 8), William Dadswell (five grade 9s and four grade 8s) and Carmen Farrow (five grade 9s and four grade 8s).

Head teacher Simon Liley said: “We all hope that these excellent results will be a shining light at the end of a very challenging summer term for the staff and students.

“Every student deserves to celebrate their achievements and I want to wish them all of the very best for their future. I also want to thank the amazing staff teams who have supported them so well over the last 5 years.”
