Pulborough has seen sales surge 100 per cent, Latimer Homes said, with Londoners leaving city life behind as employers introduce hybrid working.

The research, carried out by Travel Time, showed villages outside of the traditional commuter belt are proving popular as people switch to permanently work from home.

Latimer Homes said nearly half of sales at its Brookfields development came from areas in Surrey and London since the site reopened in June last year.

Victoria Finch, Sales Director at Latimer Homes, added: “These buyers are telling us they feel now they have the flexibility to move further, get closer to the coast and the countryside without necessarily having to commute every single day.

“The picturesque and quintessential villages that once fell a little further outside the traditional commuter zone are now an option for more people, and we expect them to see a real surge in popularity.”
