Aldi gives The Angmering School foodbank a boost

Miss Lindsey Cox, subject leader for health, was amazed by the kindness and generosity she received when she started planning a shopping trip to buy items for the school’s foodbank, which supports students and their families in need.

Her friends happily donated to the cause and in total, Miss Cox raised £215, which she planned to spend in Aldi

Then, when the supermarket heard of her shopping trip, staff offered further support and a another £50 was added to the budget.

Miss Cox said she did ‘a crazy Saturday morning supermarket sweep’, and three trolleys later, she was done.

Miss Carole Savage, head of department, and science teacher Mr Jon Street also joined in the team effort, supporting the foodbank and shopping for items during the weekend.

The school foodbank was set up last year with the support of the Littlehampton and District Foodbank.

It was launched to help students, and their families, who had been affected by the coronavirus pandemic and its many challenges.

Time slots are allocated for students to collect the food parcels after school hours.
