While Clymping did not do anything wrong, because it is not against league rules, should it be allowed?

Clymping included Gareth's brother, Benn, the Littlehampton captain, and Chris Green, and Benn crashed 60 not out after Clymping, chasing 117, had fallen to 16-4 and 41-5.

Both used to play for Clymping, as Gareth Challen pointed out, when he said: ""We still had batting to come, and I'd like to think that we'd still have won if Benn hadn't played. Someone else would have had to apply themselves.

"But since the first three or four games, our side has kept changing, and this week we took the opportunity to play Benn and Chris Green.

"And they both played at Clymping for a lot longer than they've been at Littlehampton. We wouldn't have played anyone else from Littlehampton, apart from maybe Chris Kirkham, who used to play here, too."

Southwick are fighting relegation from Division 1, and skipper Chris Summers even commented: "Benn was definitely the difference between the two teams. We think we'd have had a chance of winning if he hadn't played — and we really needed the points.

"It's frustrating that he played, especially because it was against us, but there's nothing in the league rules which says he can't."

In a season past, Worthing's Sussex League opening bowler Chris Mansell once turned out for Middleton in the Sussex Invitation League.
