VANDALS have wrecked two pieces of the new fitness equipment at Tarring Recreation Ground, Worthing.
The borough council says it is evident that this was a deliberate act and occurred this week.
The equipment has been removed and the area made safe for the public. Police have been informed of the incident.
Bryan Turner, cabinet member for a clean and green environment, said: "Worthing Borough Council is saddened and angered to learn about this latest incident of vandalism in Tarring Recreation Ground.
"We have worked hard to raise the funds to install this equipment, which can only be of benefit to residents.
"Such acts can only be carried out by mindless people, and their behaviour must not be tolerated."
He called on anyone with information to contact the council on 01903 201331, or the police on 0845 60 70 999.
