Information about various crimes in the Worthing area in the past week, are listed below.

Bag theft

A HANDBAG was stolen from the boot of a car parked in Coombe Rise, Findon Valley, on Wednesday, October 8.

The driver parked her car at 1pm and left her handbag in the boot while she walked her dog.

When she got back, she noticed a window had been smashed and the bag was missing.

Bikes stolen

PUSH bikes were stolen from the communal hallway at flats in Brougham Walk, East Worthing, in the early hours of Thursday, October 9.

Neighbours heard noise in the hallway at 1.30am and police believe this when the bikes were taken.

One was a Danon fold-up bike with a white frame and was worth £500.

The other was a custom built, bright yellow mountain bike.

Supermarket targets

SHOPPERS in Worthing supermarkets were targeted by purse thieves last week.

At 11.30am on Saturday, October 11, a woman was loading her shopping into her car boot at Waitrose, High Street, when two men approached her and asked for directions to Brighton.

While she was busy talking to one of the men, the other stole her purse from her handbag.

The men had foreign accents and one was described as 45 years old, stocky build and was clean shaven.

Another Waitrose shopper also had her purse stolen on Friday, October 10.

And at Sainsbury's, Lyons Farm, on Monday, October 13, a woman had her purse taken at some point after paying for her shopping and loading it into her car.

School and business burgled

BURGLARIES and attempted burglaries at Worthing schools and businesses last week are being linked by police.

A thief was caught on CCTV trying to steal a minibus from Worthing High School, South Farm Road, at 2.16am on Thursday, October 9.

He tried to get into the school through the front door and then attempted to take the minibus, but was not successful.

At 11.45pm on Thursday, there was an attempted break-in at Wickes in Dominion Road.

The following day (Friday, October 10) two white men climbed over a garden fence in Ringmer Road, Durrington, just after midnight to get onto the Durrington High School site in The Boulevard.

They managed to break into a classroom and stole computer monitors, computer towers and an over-head projector. Again, they were captured on CCTV.

And also in the early hours of Friday, thieves broke into a business in Sompting Avenue and stole a Garmin sat-nav system and a coffee percolator.
