I WOULD like to start by wishing Russell Slade, Dean White and Bob Booker all the best for the future.
Russell did a great job for us last year by keeping us up when a lot of people already thought we were dead and buried.

Everytime I met him, he was always a true gentleman and a genuinely nice guy – even for the charity game he turned up for a co
uple of weeks ago.

Brighton had lost 2-0 on the Saturday and it would have been easy for him to stay away, as there were a lot of Albion fans there, but he came, played, and was very professional. Dean and Bob will also be missed as they are really hard-working and good people.

I know the chairman, and everyone involved with making the decision of who to appoint for the job, have a great knowledge of football and an extreme love of the club.

They will search high and low for the right person for the job, and someone who can take us forward.

Charlie Oatway is helping assist caretaker-manager Martin Hinshelwood, so he's really working his socks off at the moment.

He always helped at the training ground and then came back to work for the community, now even more so, he's like Jimmy Saville, with all his helping out.

He also runs the reserve side at the Sussex FA in Lancing, so he really is very busy and there's never a dull moment at the Albion.

n It was half-term at Worthing Academy last week so everyone was on holiday apart from myself. I spent my time in sunny Sussex, however that really wasn't the case at Lewes on Wednesday night.

I spent my evening watching, or not as the case was, Lewes against St Albans, as the game was abandoned due to fog.

Although we couldn't see much, we could hear the occasional roar from the other side of the pitch – when the fans spotted something going on.

As part of the Young Seagulls club, players and people associated with the club go out and visit schools in the area.

Myself, Charlie, and the other community guys have started taking part in the visits, and we will be in schools in the area throughout the term. I was in a school in Hangleton on Tuesday promoting healthy eating and exercise.
