Action from Worthing's win against Old Bordenians

Action from Worthing's win against Old Bordenians

A Luc Hinton brace fired Worthing Hockey Club to an impressive 2-1 victory over third-placed Old Bordenians on Saturday.

Hinton had given the hosts the lead in the Kent/Sussex League Regional Division clash with a good finish after a well-worked team move.

Old Bordenians thought they had rescued a point with 15 minutes remaining when they levelled the scores, but Hinton tapped home the winner after another flowing team move five minutes later.

Worthing captain Cirdec Atkinson said: “It was a good win for where they are in the league and very satisfactory, but we didn’t play too well.

“We could have made more from our chances, but got the result in the end.

“They were well drilled, but I think we’ve had our hiccup for the season now and there is no one in the league we can’t compete against, so it’s onward and upward.”

Worthing travel to third-from-bottom Holcombe 2nd on Saturday.

WORTHING: Burlison, Gill, Godber, Sewell, Simmons, Massie, Moore, Lowin, Lowe, Atkinson, Gubbins, Hinton, Helmer, Daniels.

l Worthing 2nd were in seven heaven with a comfortable victory at Lewes 3rd with a goal of the season contest within the match.

Marc Hinton scored a fine reverse stick undercut into the top corner from the edge of the D and two penalty corners in the 7-0 win.

In the second half, Ahmed Ramiz made a direct run down the inside left channel, held off two or three defenders and scored with a reverse stick shot. Leo French also scored a nice individual goal, while Simon Holloway finished off two
