WORTHING Thunder Basketball Club returned to winning ways with a 85-79 victory at home to Tees Valley Mohawks on Saturday.
Thunder ended a five-game losing run in National League Division 1 with a hard-fought victory to remain eighth – the final play-off position.
Milton Chavis led Thunder with 28 points, while Hank Rivers scored 27 points and had 16 rebounds. Roman Nelson top-scored with 22 points for Tees Valley.
Rivers said: “Everybody senses the urgency right now as everybody wants to be in the play-offs. We’re focusing on the teams we need to beat and what we need to do.
“Basically, it’s them or us. At any given time, I think we can beat any team in this league and we have beaten most of the teams in the league. If we play together and stay together, we’ve got a good chance of going pretty far in the play-offs, if we make it.”
