LITTLEHAMPTON Cricket Club were recently awarded a £56,000 grant from Sport England to make improvements to their pavilion at The Sportsfield.
Littlehampton are looking to further develop their cricketing home and a new development would see improved access, updated changing rooms, new showers, a re-fitted kitchen and toilets, carpet and lighting in the main area, along with work to improve the viewing area at the front of the building.
The pavilion was originally established in 1897 and care will be taken in retaining the initial design.
Littlehampton Cricket Club chairman Alan Pyant is delighted work will now be able to start thanks to the grant and said: “Our members are absolutely delighted that we will now be able to transform the old pavilion into a modern sports facility and social centre for our family-centred club.
“This will enable us to go forward with our plans to further develop the club, which is firmly rooted in the local community.
“We are grateful to Sport England and all the people who have lent their support to this project and to the club members who have worked hard to rescue this iconic building.”
