Rustington Cricket Club’s Alan Hodgson was on cloud nine after inspiring Rustington Cricket Club to a eight-wicket win at Himani on Saturday.

Hodgson collected outstanding figures of 9-35 from 11.2 overs to bowl Himani out for 94 in the West Sussex Invitation League Division 4 match.

Hodgson is the division’s second leading wicket-taker with 30 this season, three behind Southwick captain Russell Martin.

Only two batsmen got into double figures for Himani as Bhavin Shashikant Patel top-scored with 48 and opening batsman Bhavin Nayee hit 19.

Harry Hughes took the other wicket to fall for Rustington, who reached their target in 27.2 overs.

Alan Hylands (seven) and Jamie Walker (two) fell early in the run chase but 34 not out from Mishal Patel and an unbeaten 32 from Paddy Chapman guided Rustington home.

The win moved Rustington up a place to third in the table, just four points behind second-placed Crawley Eagles 4th who are in the second and final promotion place.

Rustington entertain bottom-of-the-table Findon thirds on Saturday.
