Wick & Barnham United Football Club boosted their hopes of avoiding relegation when they completed the league double over high-flying Eastbourne Town on Saturday.
Town went into the game top of the SCFL Premier Division but after Wick won 4-2 at the Saffrons in November, debutant Jake Daniels’ early header took Wick to a 1-0 victory and the double over the title-chasers.
Wick keeper Jordan Matthews saved a first-half penalty to ensure all three points and Wick joint boss Richard Towers was delighted with the win.
He said: “I think that was on a level par with the performance and victory we got against them earlier this season.
“We played really well in that one and did the same here again. I made a few changes and had a couple of new faces and fortunately, they worked well.”
Wick’s match at local rivals Arundel was postponed on Monday because of a waterlogged pitch.
Wick host Hailsham on Saturday.
