SOUTHERN Combination Football League chairman Steve Nealgrove revelaed he is not concerned by a fixture backlog just yet.

Another washout last weekend saw just three games played across the league.

With such poor weather in January, a number of sides have had games postponed for the last four weeks.

Despite a lack of action, Nealgrove admitted that fixture secretary Tim Dawes is not yet concerned by a potential pile-up.

The Southern Combination League chairman said: “We held a league officers meeting on Monday and Tim said he is not yet concerned.

“As it stands, we are not currently in as bad of a situation as we were two years ago.

“But, if we are forced to continue calling games off in the coming weeks, then some clubs may face difficulties fulfilling fixtures.

“Should this be the case, some sides could face a fixture backlog and be forced to play up to three times a week.

“At the meeting, Tim revealed that 59 per cent of Premier Division fixtures have been completed, while the same amount have been finished in Division 1.

“The Football Association’s cut-off date currently stands at April 30 for Premier and Division 1 games to be completed by.

“Whether or not special dispensation may be given if games continue to be called off, that won’t be known until March.

“All we can do is hope the weather improves in the coming weeks and fixtures begin to get back to normal. There is no concern at present but we need games to be played now.”
