WORTHING Football Club assistant manager Mark Pulling is looking for Rebels to return to winning ways at home to mid-table Corinthian Casuals on Saturday.
After two successive defeats, Rebels dropped out of the Ryman League Division 1 South play-off places on Saturday, after their defeat at Dulwich Hamlet, when a controversial penalty decision went against them, and Pulling said: “The boys just need to refocus and get back to winning ways. If we win 1-0, 3-2, 5-4, it doesn’t matter, it’s all about getting the win.
“Chris (White, manager) said a couple of weeks ago that every game’s a cup final now and that’s how we’re approaching it.
“We’re in a mini league now for a play-off place. I think that Bognor, Whitehawk and Dulwich are battling it out for the title and then you’ve got us, Folkestone, Maidstone and Godalming, who have an outside chance, going for the play-off positions.
“It’s important that we keep winning the games that we should be winning and then things will take care of itself.
“Then, if we get into the play-offs, anything can happen. If we come up against Dulwich, Whitehawk or Bognor, we’re more than a match for any of them on our day.”
Rebels made an approach for Merstham winger Sam Tucknott last week but the move did not come off as Worthing could not afford him.
Keeper Alan Mansfield is set to miss two-to-three weeks with an ankle injury, captain Tom Manton (calf) is also out of Saturday’s game and Paul Kennett (toe) is a doubt, but Tom Lawley will return.
