EP seal spot in Division 2 Cup final

Action from East Preston's win at Oakwood on Saturday

Action from East Preston's win at Oakwood on Saturday

EAST Preston Football Club set up a all Arun County League Division 2 Cup final on Tuesday night as they overcame Hailsham Town 1-0 at Middle Road.

Defender Alex Duncan’s late first-half penalty was the only goal of a tight semi-final, as EP edged it to book their place in the final on Good Friday against local rivals Littlehampton.

With the division’s top two sides facing off on Tuesday, and the fact it was for a place in a cup final, it was always going to be a tight game – although most would agree EP were worth the win for carving out the better of the limited chances.

Boss Dominic Di Paola said: “We didn’t play as much as we can and the only thing I can think is it must have been was the nerves. But I can’t fault the lads, they closed the second ball well and worked hard.”

For a full match report on EP’s semi-final win, as well as a report and pictures from Saturday’s win at Oakwood, pick up a copy of the Littlehampton Gazette tomorrow (Thursday).
