LITTLEHAMPTON Town Football Club suffered FA Vase heartache after they were beaten 2-1 at Ashford in their third round replay.
The side’s could not be separated after extra-time on Saturday as the tie finished 3-3.
However, a brace from Ashford’s Stuart Zanone ensured it was the Kent side who reached the fourth round.
It was Littlehampton who made the better start to the game and went a goal in front on 23 minutes as David Herbert struck.
Ashford responded well to going a goal behind, though, and were level just seven minutes later as Zanone got his first of the game.
Zanone then struck again ten minutes later to get his and Ashford’s second.
The visitors had a number of openings in the second-half but failed to take their chances.
George Landais may well have levelled the tie late on but he saw his right foot shot flash just wide of the home side’s goal as Golds were dumped out in the competition’s third round.
Littlehampton return to County League Division 1 action on Saturday when they host Hassocks.
