A boiler issue in the build-up left Mill Road without any hot water, forcing the game to be called off just hours before kick-off.

Third-bottom Arundel are now just three points from safety with a game in hand after place-above Worthing United were held to a home draw by Crawley Down Gatwick.

Mullets boss Richard Towers was frustrated to see the game go but pleased results went his side’s way.

He said: “It was a game we wanted to get on but an issue with a boiler left the club without hot water.

“We’ve now got a game in hand against a team who are bottom but that doesn’t mean it’s going to be a guaranteed three points for us.

“It’s annoying the match went, we just need to focus on our next game now.”

Harry Russell and Asa Nicholson, who were set to miss the Hailsham clash, could be back in contention to face Hassocks at Mill Road on Saturday.

Dave Herbert appeared as a substitute for Worthing once again at the weekend, with Towers expecting him to remain with them for the time being.

But he feels the return of both Russell and Nicholson will give his squad an added boost heading into a crucial clash with Hassocks.

He added: “I’m hoping both Asa and Harry will be back on Saturday, which will be a massive boost for us.

“Dave will be with Worthing for the foreseeable future, which is a blow, but I’m pleased to see him playing at that level.”
