LITTLEHAMPTON Cricket Club jumped into the promotion places on Saturday with their victory at fellow promotion hopefuls Roffey.
James Askew hit the winning runs, a six off the third ball of the last over, to give his side a three-wicket win and Littlehampton captain Benn Challen said: "The league table changes every week, and at the moment is looking good for us.
"But the division's still fairly open. Haywards Heath won again, so are up there now. Bexhill and Lewes are going well, and Roffey are still up there, too.
"We batted and bowled better than Roffey, so deserved the win. But at one stage, when we went from 143-2 to169-7, I did wonder if it was going to be one of those days.
"But Luke Vinter and James Askew both batted well. Luke also bowled well, as he has all season, and this week got the rub of the green to get five wickets.
"It was a good win for us, and hopefully we'll be able to get back-to-back wins for the first time this season at Steyning on Saturday."
Vinter had reduced Roffey to 13-3 and finished with figures of five wickets for 28 runs from his 11 overs.
George Fleming, with a 90-ball 43, top-scored for Roffey, whose No 10, James Newman, hit a quickfire 39 not out.
For Littlehampton, Graham Blann cracked seven fours and two sixes in his 48, Aussie Angus Webster crashed nine fours in his 47, and Askew struck four fours and one six in his unbeaten 45.
