CLYMPING moved back ahead of Broadwater to return to the top of the Invitation League on Saturday with their six-wicket 30-point success at Selsey.
With Broadwater not playing, Clymping are now four points clear at the top but have played a game more.

Selsey won the toss, elected to bat, and were bowled out for 172, with Clymping outstanding in the field, especially Matt Barton, who took an excellent catch at backward point. Medium-pacer Karl Pierce took five wickets for 36 runs for Clymping, who then reached their target in 37 overs.

Kim Dean and Andy Hancock got Clymping off to an excellent start with a half-century stand. Dean was out for 57, before Aussie Andrew Danson took Clymping to victory with 57 not out.

Stand-in Clymping captain James Salisbury, with Gareth Challen unavailable, said: "Because Broadwater keep picking up 30 point wins, that's what we're going to have to keep doing to have a chance of winning the league. We also need to hope that a team does us a favour by beating Broadwater — and they play Selsey on Saturday, who have already beaten them.

"We play Wisborough Green, who are bottom, but it's another big game. We probably need to win all five of our remaining games now."

East Preston moved up to fourth place with their 62-run win at Portslade.

After winning the toss, EP struck 232-3 from their 49 overs. Opener Sean Rebbetts crashed 84 from 99 balls, with 15 fours, and younger brother, Darryl, continued his excellent form with 83 not out. He struck nine fours from 126 deliveries but had been dropped on 48.

Tom Reeves also added an unbeaten 42 from 51 balls, with five fours and one six. Darryl shared century stands with both Sean and Reeves.

Portslade raced to 79-0 from 13 overs before EP skipper Andy Reeves brought his slow bowlers into the attack. Joel Kingsbury accounted for Paul Glover, then without any additional score, off-spinner Dan Williams bowled Portslade skipper Sam Jones.

Williams finished with five for 71 from 16 overs, and Kingsbury two for 32 from 13 overs.

EP captain Andy Reeves said: "It was probably our best win of the season. We were in trouble at 20-2 but fought back with two really good performances.

"Then we fielded well, and Dan and Joel kept chipping away to pick up the wickets."

EP host third-placed Horsham Trinity on Saturday.

It is now 11 defeats in a row for Rustington in Division 2.

Just three players reached double figures as West Chiltington dismissed them for 118. Nick Jackson hit 58 not out, Simon Gosden 18 and Stuart Stone 11.

West Chiltington then got home for the loss of just two wickets, both of which were taken by Stone.
