A MOTHER of three is challenging people to try allergy-friendly food and discover how good it tastes.
Helen Pengelly, who has coeliac disease, said people wrongly thought specialist dietary food tasted bland and strange.

She said people also worried their diet would be severely restricted if they had to cut out foods such as wheat or gluten – but that they could not be further from the truth.

Last year, Helen's son Joe, 19, was also diagnosed with coeliac disease.

Helen set up Johnsons Dietary Provisions, in Shoreham – a one-stop shop for a huge range of allergy friendly foods.

She said: "Everyone knows someone who has some sort of allergy or intolerance and needs to have free-from foods. But these foods can taste just as nice and, in some cases, even better than the 'real thing'. People need not worry about cutting out their favourite foods, either. In most cases, there is some substitute they can eat."

Helen is challenging people to sample free-from products at an open day at Johnsons Dietary Provisions, in Evershed Way, off Dolphin Road, Shoreham. The open day will be from noon to 3pm on Saturday.
