LETTER: How can flats bring a boost?

In my opinion, no matter how many of the public petitioned against the block of flats being proposed on the old Aquarena site, it would still be accepted.

In last issue of the Herald, the executive member for regeneration, of Worthing Borough Council, a Mr Bryan Turner, was quoted as saying: “Roffey Homes’ project will be a fantastic boost for Worthing’s economy.”

Surely, how can building more blocks of flats be a boost for Worthing? Where is the infrastructure for more homes? Have Mr Taylor and other members of the borough council considered these issues?

As an example, the local surgery in Selden Road has more then enough patients on their books to cope with, these residents of the proposed flats will need to register with a surgery.

There is a great shortage of GPs. Already struggling to cope with a vast volume of patients, Selden Road will be even more stretched.

I agree, something needs to be done about the Aquarena site, in my opinion a new surgery instead of the cramped surgery in Selden Road, and with on-site parking, would have made more sense.
