Thanks to everyone

I WOULD like to thank all my pupils and their families and friends for supporting my chosen charity, Operation Smile, so generously on Sunday afternoon.

Our concert party took place at Parkside Evangelical Church, Littlehampton, which again kindly provided an ideal setting, and so far we have raised in excess of £260.

The performers, whose ages ranged from four to 84, were very impressed with the “before and after” pictures of the poor children helped by Operation Smile, who were born with cleft palate – not just in Africa but in many other places, too. These children are enabled to eat, drink, talk – and smile – properly, instead of often being ostracised and ridiculed by their society. The operation is simple, quick and relatively cheap, but relies heavily on donations from the public - every little helps, as they say.

And as the song goes:

“Smile a smile – for when one smiles, another smiles.

“Soon there will be miles and miles of smiles

“And life’s worthwhile because you smile.”

If you kind-hearted Gazette readers wish to make a donation, please contact Operation Smile on www.operationsmile.org.uk or e-mail info@operationsmile.org.uk.
