TRANSPORT police are hunting a woman wearing a garish pink jumper, with a cartoon squirrel on it, in connection with the theft of a tablet computer in Littlehampton.

The victim had left the electronic device on a bench, when a woman was seen to pick it up and place it in her bag, transport police said.

The woman then boarded a train without handing the tablet to staff.

The incident took place on Wednesday, October 29, shortly before 11am, at the Littlehampton railway station, in Terminus Road.

However, the British Transport Police only released its appeal for help yesterday (Tuesday, January 20).

Inspector Gary Ancell said: “I am appealing to members of the public to help us identify the woman in the CCTV image who may have information on the theft.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40, or text 61016, quoting reference S-SUB/B2 of 20/01/15.

Information can also be passed anonymously to the independent charity, Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.
