Kallum Offen-Ives, 20, said he was one of the people who pulled her from the water:

“I saw two guys running into the water,” said Mr Offen-Ives, who had been working as a labourer beneath Worthing Pier.

He then ran over to assist the them in pulling the woman from the water.

“We got her on a large patch of sand and put her in the recovery position.”

However, the woman sadly died shortly afterwards.

There are no suspicious circumstances and the coroner’s officer has been informed, police say.
