A woman’s body that was found last week in Goring has been identified.
But the cause of death is still unexplained.
As previously reported, on Wednesday forensics officers from Sussex Police were seen carrying out investigations at a house in Sea Lane, Goring, following a call that was made earlier in the morning.
Sussex Police said: “Police were called to the premises at 7.40am and a woman’s body was recovered.
“The woman has been formally identified as Mary Meggs, 67, of Sea Lane, Goring.
“The cause of death remains unexplained at this stage.”
The scientific support branch was at the scene, with two forensics vans and a police van in attendance during the day.
A police officer was guarding the front door of the property.
In an earlier statement, police said that the coroner’s office has been informed.
