It states that the reason is both wish to be ‘as involved as we possibly can in forging a positive Brexit’.

The news follows a recent fall out within the party over a vote on Arun District Council CEO’s pay and criticism of member’s contribution at meetings.

The joint statement said: “As Arun District Councillors, our first priority is to work towards improving the quality of life for our constituents. Our principles have not changed in any way!

“In keeping with this principle we feel that, one important way forward is to be as involved as we possibly can in forging a positive Brexit.

“At this time, we feel we would be more effective working with the party that is negotiating the terms of Brexit.”
