TWO men from Littlehampton and Rustington are to appear in court charged with drink-driving.
Daniel Jones, 32, was arrested at 7.15pm on June 21 after his car was stopped by officers in Maltravers Road, Littlehampton.
Jones, of Bayford Road, Littlehampton, was charged with drink-driving and released on bail to appear at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on October 7.
Philip Day, 62, was arrested at 8.10pm on the same evening, in Balmoral Close, Rustington, after he was seen leaving an off licence and getting into a car.
Day, of Balmoral Close, Rustington, was charged with drink-driving and released on bail to appear at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on October 7.
The arrests are part of Sussex Police’s crackdown on drink and drug-driving, Operation Dragonfly.
A total of 76 people have now been charged this month’s operation.
Superintendent Jane Derrick, the head of the force’s roads policing unit, said: “A large proportion of those who we are arresting are being found behind the wheel in the early hours of the morning.
“If you think you can get away with drink-driving at 1am you should think again. Our officers are out on patrol looking for the slightest indication that you are unfit to be on the roads.
“You are not just putting your own life at risk, you are endangering everyone else using the roads.”
