HOSPITALS in Worthing, Shoreham and Chichester have been placed in the top category under the new overall rating system for the second year running.

A vast range of factors at Worthing, St Richard’s and Southlands hospitals, including mortality rates, staff survey results and patient feedback, have been monitored.

Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has been placed in band six under the Intelligent Monitoring system, operated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Cathy Stone, director of nursing and patient safety, said: “No single piece of information can tell you absolutely everything about a hospital, but these ratings provide a very comprehensive picture of the work we do. I hope that our top rating – the second successive time we have been given such an accolade – gives patients reassurance that our staff are working hard to do a fantastic job.

“Most of the feedback we receive tells us that people truly value our staff, and this is another welcome vote of confidence in them.”
