UPDATE: London commuters face delays after person hit by a train

Rail commuters have faced delays and cancellations following a person being hit by a train this afternoon (Friday March 3).

Southern says: “Owing to a person being hit by a train at South Croydon, Southern services to and from Caterham, Tattenham Corner, Caterham, London Bridge and London Victoria are subject to delays and short notice cancellations.

“Transport for London Buses are accepting Southern rail ticket holders within the area.

“Customers can use East Croydon or Purley Oaks as a alternative to South Croydon station.

Reports are that the man died after being hit by a Southern Rail train at around 1.20pm this afternoon.

The station was closed folloowing the incident and reopened at 3pm.

The train involved was the 12.48pm from Tattenham Corner to London Bridge.

Disruption is expected to last until 4.30pm.

An added problem has been a points failure in the Purley area which has caused delays to services through the area,

Short notice alterations and cancellation can be expected.
