Rustington silent auction supports The Friends of Mombasa Children

SILENCE spoke volumes for the support given to a Rustington-based charity.

The Friends of Mombasa Children raised more than £550 during its annual silent auction at Rustington Methodist Church hall.

The charity supports a school and provides food and medical care for children in the slum area of Bombolulu on the northern edge of Mombasa, Kenya.

Viewers inspected the 270 lots, including deck chairs, bicycles, camera toys and a running machine, before quietly making their bids on paper.

Karyn Hinks who organised the event, said: “The morning was short but intense.

“People had a good time and enjoyed this fun way of bidding for goods.

“Thank you to everyone who generously donated goods or came to support the charity.”
