Pensioner freed from tractor and arson fire extinguished

INCIDENTS attended by firefighters yesterday (Thursday, February 23) include:-

Tow path between Donnington and Birdham, 12.24pm to 1.37pm – 62-year-old man trapped by his foot under small overturned tractor. Man released using airbags and taken to hospital by helicopter. The tractor was righted and removed from the tow path. Crews from Chichester handed the incident over to a canal society representative.

The Street, Thakeham, 2.18pm to 2.58pm – one woman rescued from car following crash. The woman was taken to hospital by ambulance. Crews from Storrington and Worthing in attendance.

Stammers Lane, Midhurst, 4.49pm to 5.36pm – chimney fire extinguished by crew from Arundel.

Butts Road, Southwick, 9.12pm to 9.43pm – several small grass fires set in grounds of the garage area. Fires, believed to be arson, extinguished by firefighters from Shoreham.
