IT WILL be a test of grit for a Littlehampton fundraiser, as she descends 100m down one of the country’s most recognisable landmarks.
Michelle Silcok, of Bailey Close, will be abseiling down Portsmouth’s Spinnaker Tower, on Saturday, September 7, for a charity very close to her heart.
The 31-year-old will be raising vital cash for The Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society. But for the mum-of-two, the abseil will be more than just a fundraising drive – it will be a way of connecting with her much-loved father, Martin Denny, who suffers from MS.
Martin, of Armada Way, Littlehampton, said: “She has been a rock to me since my diagnosis with MS and wants to do this to help raise funds for the MS Society, in the hope that it may help to find a cure for this condition, which I refuse to call a disease.
“I know she has done abseiling before, so I suggested she should take part in this event.
“She went on adventure courses when she was younger but has never abseiled from this sort of height.
“I think it’s only just starting to dawn on her what she has signed up for! But I know she will do it.”
