DOZENS of customers and staff at a Littlehampton bank raised their coffee cups on Friday (September 27) to do their bit to support cancer sufferers across the nation.
Barclays Bank, in High Street, was one of countless organisations taking part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
The branch’s event managed to generate £466.76 – the largest figure raised by the bank at the annual coffee morning.
Cashier Tanya Gibbins, who helps to organise the event, said: “We were totally taken aback by the generosity of people this year.
“Especially at a time when everyone is cutting back on their spending.”
She added: “The atmosphere was fab and this is probably the best total we have raised for the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.”
There was plenty of coffee to go around throughout the morning.
Other events included a raffle, with some top prizes being donated by a number of local businesses.
About 115,000 people, nationally, signed up to last year’s event, raising a record £15m.
The figures of this year’s fundraiser have yet to be totalled.
