It is almost time to crown the Herald & Gazette Community Stars Awards winners for 2014 – but first we need you, the readers, to cast your votes.

Pick up your copy of the Littlehampton Gazette today for a free 8-page supplement, packed with all of this year’s Community Stars’ nominees.

Now in its sixth year, the awards are a chance for readers to highlight the unsung heroes and top charities and events across the area.

We have had dozens of amazing entries, from people who have sacrificed their own safety to help others, youngsters who have inspired and volunteers who go above and beyond.

The supplement features all of the best nominations we received, so please take the time to read each category to hear their heart-warming and impressive stories.

On page seven of the supplement, you will find a voting form which features a slot for each category – so, don’t just vote for one person in one category, give us a name in each category and help us find our winners.

We cannot accept photocopies, but you can buy as many copies of the paper as you wish if you want to vote for the same person more than once.

The deadline for voting is 5pm on Tuesday, November 4, and entries can be dropped off or sent to our offices in Chatsworth Road, Worthing, BN11 1NA.

This year’s awards ceremony is being held at the Dome Cinema, on Worthing seafront, on Thursday, November 13. The doors open at 6pm for a 6.30pm start. All of those people nominated in this supplement are invited to attend along with the people who nominated them.

Radio personality Kevin King will host the awards and the winners will be presented with a trophy, £50 cash and a family day-pass to Butlins Bognor.

Also in the Gazette this week is a report from a council meeting in which councillors engaged in a heated debate over the future of West Sussex County Council decision-making.

The Gazette has also launched a new campaign to demand that business rates are frozen immediately and an urgent review of the system is conducted.

For all of this plus the latest news, views, columnists, nostalgia, sport, business and more, pick up your Gazette, out now, priced 80p.
