Second warning by police as crime wave continues

A SECOND warning in the space of a week has been given by police to moped and motorbike owners in the Littlehampton area after a string of vehicle thefts.

Eleven mopeds and five cars have been stolen since the beginning of March, most being recovered either abandoned or burnt out.

In the latest incident, police were alerted to an attempted break-in to a shop in Highfield, Wick, at around 3.45am on Monday (April 14).

Three youths were seen to leave the area on two mopeds and these are believed to be the ones that a short time later were found burnt out in a service road behind Arundel Road in Littlehampton. One was known to be stolen.

Police are now urging moped and motorbike owners to be vigilant and ensure their bikes are securely locked away.

Anyone who has any information about this incident or any other thefts is asked to contact Sussex Police at or call 101 quoting serial 110 of 14/04. Alternatively, you can call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111
