Dressed to be seen as the mornings close in, a group of around 50 parents and children walked en masse to River Beach Primary School, waving banners to show everyone’s support for travelling by foot.

Arriving at school, children received a cereal bar.

They were also presented with a certificate, which they were given in front of their classmates at assembly.

Mrs Bingham, travel plan coordinator, said: “Along with monthly walk to school badges, we try to keep the profile of sustainable transport high on our school agenda.

“There are at present a high proportion of walkers, those who scoot and cyclists which is fantastic.”
