YEAR-six pupils at River Beach Primary School, Littlehampton, are organising their very own River Beach Pride Award Ceremony.

A range of local heroes will be invited and three special winners will be presented a unique award.

This event is due to take place on March 2 but preparations are already being made. With the entire year six taking charge, this will definitely be an event to remember.

This exceptional event is to honour local heroes that have helped others.

These people may include nurses to firefighters to even an ordinary citizen, who may have done something for the community.

The children will all choose their own hero and then prepare a speech to present to others. Each child will then vote on one person and the top three heroes from each class will be nominated.

This amazing event is many things – unique, spectacular and most of unforgettable.

There will also be live performances, refreshments and many other special arrangements.

When asked whether he thought the nominees would value a child’s opinion more, assistant head teacher Dan Leach replied: “I hope so, as our children are the heroes of the future.”

One child involved in the award ceremony said: “I think that nominees will appreciate the event more as knowing the children had nominated them is really special.”

It is clear that this is a truly memorable and heart warming event, where children and adults alike honour our everyday heroes.
