BUILDER McCarthy & Stone, the UK market leader in retirement living, has announced the appointment of Julie Howard to the position of estate manager at the company’s first tailored care living development, Claridge House in Littlehampton.
Julie brings considerable expertise to the role, gained through 24 years’ experience managing her own residential care home.
Playing a crucial role in the management of the new development in Littlehampton, Julie will ensure the safety, security and wellbeing of residents living at Claridge House, all of whom will be aged 70 and over.
All residents will receive an individual care assessment, overseen by Julie, and a tailored care plan will then be provided by YourLife Management Services, a partnership between McCarthy & Stone and Somerset Care Group, one of the UK’s largest and experienced not-for-profit care companies.
In addition, Julie will work alongside chefs at the 24-hour, on-site, waitress-service restaurant to ensure residents’ nutritional requirements are catered for, and will manage a team of 10 staff, who will provide round-the-clock support. Julie will also ensure residents get the most out of the support facilities available at the development, including the residents’ lounge, hobby room and wellbeing centre.
Julie commented: “It is very exciting to be joining a forward-thinking company that puts its customers at the heart of everything it does.
“The great thing about tailored care living is it offers residents with a choice that could well remove the need to ever consider a move to a residential care home.
“With flexible on-site care and support packages to help residents retain their independence, quality of life and uniquely home ownership, tailored care living will provide families with peace of mind that their loved ones will always receive the right level of care and support they need.
“Having worked in the care industry for more than two decades, I am passionate about ensuring people really get the support and the quality of life they deserve – and I believe tailored care living offers the ideal solution.”
Wendy Slingo, regional sales and marketing director, commented: “We’re delighted to welcome Julie on board. Her expertise will be of great benefit to us as we strive to deliver best value for all our customers, and will assist us to offer a truly unique experience for our residents to help ensure they make the most of later life.”
Claridge House is located in Church Street and comprises 58 one and two-bedroom tailored care living apartments, with prices starting from £188,950.
