A man in his eighties was injured after being dragged 10ft down a road by a car.

According to the ambulance service, paramedics arrived at Stone Close in Worthing at just after 10pm on Monday night following reports that a man had suffered a fall.

Police were called by paramedics and arrived shortly after.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said: “The man told officers he was holding the passenger door handle of a friend’s car when it was started while in gear, causing the vehicle to bunny hop and drag him 10ft along.”

The ambulance service said he suffered a facial injury and back pain, and was treated at the scene before being taken to Worthing Hospital for further treatment.
