Labour’s runner-up in the Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner election has said he achieved ‘everything I set out to do’.

Despite beating the Conservatives’ Katy Bourne in the second preference votes by more than 500, he finished a distant second once the votes were added to the first preference votes.

Mr Jones said: “I have achieved everything I set out to do and I am very satisfied with the result.

“It has been a long journey. I really think it’s an experience I will look back on with great fondness.”

He reiterated several disagreements with Mrs Bourne on many decision made by Sussex Police but added; “I hope in future of Sussex Police prospers and I am sure it will if Mrs Bourne listens to the people who gave me their support.”
